CISD Students, Parents and Community,
The CISD Board of Trustees voted to make face coverings optional starting March 29, 2021. Students and staff will continue to follow our current procedures regarding face coverings until that date. Since summer, CISD has tried to be very thoughtful in implementing our COVID protocols so that we could conduct school on campus and mitigate the spread of the virus in our schools and the community. We avoided closure and have protected our programs and seasons to this point. The March 29 implementation allows staff who just received their second round vaccination to reach immunity. It also allows us to mitigate the spread from students and unvaccinated staff members who might be exposed during Spring Break travels, so that our end of the year activities are less likely to be affected for all our students. Starting March 29th, face coverings will be optional on each campus as long as active cases do not exceed 5 at that campus. If a campus exceeds 5 active cases, the face covering protocols will be put back in place on that campus. I am optimistic our active cases will remain low and our students and staff will enjoy a normal end to another successful school year.
